Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake is inviting constituents aged 50 plus to join him this Friday for a cup of tea and a chat about changes would you like to see in Sutton, to make it a better place to live, work and play.
Organised by Age UK, ‘Tea with your MP’ will provide a forum for Sutton’s older residents to raise concerns and issues and to express their views and opinions on a range of issues of local and national importance. Equally importantly, the event connects the borough’s older residents to their constituency MPs, ensuring that their voices are heard by those in authority.
The event is being held at Holy Trinity Church, Maldon Road, Wallington, 11 November, 13:30 - 15:30. There will be an opportunity to ask questions on housing, boundaries and constituencies, health and social care, threats to cultural services, targeted crime (safety and security) and transport.
“I am looking forward to this opportunity to sit down with local residents, have a cup of tea, and chat about their fears, wishes and ideas for Carshalton and Wallington. Often politics in Westminster can feel far removed from people's ordinary lives and often older residents especially can feel left out of the political system. I am grateful to Age UK for providing this opportunity for us to come together and talk about issues that are important to the community.”
