Tom Brake joins Diamond Wedding celebrations

On Friday 28th August, Tom Brake MP met Carshalton residents, Sheila and Dennis Francis, to help celebrate their Diamond Wedding Anniversary.

The couple, who have been married for 60 years, were joined by Tom, friends and their local walking group to help commemorate this outstanding landmark. With tea and celebratory cake provided by St Mary’s Church, Tom Brake chatted with the couple, hearing stories of their many years of marriage together.

Flowers and National Trust vouchers were presented to Sheila and Dennis by the Beddington Park walking club, which they are members of. They can now enjoy more years together, tending to and enjoying their garden with their new flowers.

Tom Brake added:

“It was truly fantastic to see Sheila and Dennis celebrate this incredible landmark. It was also a pleasure to catch up once more with members of the Beddington Park walking club and to see the long-lasting friendships and sense of community the group has helped to create.”

Attendance at Beddington Park walking club hit a record 56 at last week’s event, showing the growing popularity of the group.
