Carshalton and Wallington MP, Tom Brake, has become an MP Champion for disabled children’s charity Whizz-Kidz, backing the charity’s local and national work for disabled youngsters.
Whizz-Kidz has recently transformed the life of a disabled boy from Carshalton by providing him with essential mobility equipment – enabling him to have an active and fun childhood and the same opportunities as his peers.
The Carshalton and Wallington MP will be supporting Whizz-Kidz as a Champion by backing the charity’s work locally, highlighting their activities and by meeting some of the charity’s young Ambassadors.
“I’m delighted to support Whizz-Kidz by becoming an MP Champion. The charity do fantastic work locally, providing disabled children with mobility equipment and opportunities to lead independent and active lives.
"I’ve already worked closely with Whizz-Kidz over the last few years and I’m looking forward to continuing to support their work in Carshalton and Wallington as an MP Champion.”
George Fielding, Chair of the Whizz-Kidz Kidz Board said:
“Tom has always been an enthusiastic supporter of Whizz-Kidz and we’re really excited that he is continuing to support our work by becoming an MP Champion!
As a charity, we simply could not do what we do – transform the lives of young disabled people like myself, without the backing of Whizz-Kidz supporters across the UK so we’re really grateful for Tom’s support.”
As well as providing disabled children with life-changing mobility equipment, the charity also provides a range of activities to increase the independence and confidence of young disabled people, including work placements, wheelchair skills training and residential camps.
They also run kids’ clubs across the UK where youngsters with disabilities can make friends, have fun and learn important life skills.
