Tom Brake MP calls for a cycling revolution in London

Tom Brake MP cheered alongside OFO, a new dockless bicycle company, at an event last week to celebrate their official entrance into the stock market.

The event, attended by over fifty people, was held at the London Stock Exchange.

Commenting on the arrival of dockless bike companies in London Tom Brake said:

‘‘It is well known that air quality is London’s silent killer. In fact, just last month, the London Mayor triggered London’s emergency air quality alert. In the coming years, it is inevitable that if we want to tackle this issue we will need to reduce our dependency on cars and use other sustainable modes of transport - public transport, walking and cycling.

“Getting more people to cycle can be part of the solution, but London currently lags behind other European capitals like Amsterdam and Copenhagen.

"That’s why I welcome the recent arrival of companies like OFO to our capital and hope that they will work hand in hand with local authorities to make sure that these schemes are implemented properly, boosting cycle use, but without littering our streets with bikes!’’
