Carshalton and Wallington MP, Tom Brake has joined over 100 local businesses and signed up to the Clean Streets Sutton Business Pledge, a voluntary code to decrease litter in Sutton.
The pledge outlines some simple steps that can be taken to reduce litter around shop fronts and business premises or in Tom’s case, his constituency office in Carshalton. These may include reducing packaging, installing new bins or reporting problem areas to the Council.
Tom said. “Sutton has a good track record of being one of the cleanest and greenest boroughs in London but we can still do better. The Council collects more than 8 tonnes of litter every day, nearly 3,000 tonnes every year, costing the taxpayer a lot of money. I encourage all local businesses to sign the pledge and play their part in keeping our streets clean”
