Tom takes part in 25th anniversary celebrations for Sutton Shopmobility

Earlier this month, Tom Brake MP joined the 25th anniversary celebrations for Sutton Shopmobility in Trinity Square, Sutton.

Sutton Shopmobility provides mobility equipment hire for people with permanent and temporary mobility issues. For over 25 years the charity has supported thousands of people with mobility needs by hiring out mobility scooters, wheelchairs and disability aids for six days a week.

The day’s celebrations included a wheelchair dance demonstration, children’s lucky dip and a raffle, with prizes generously donated from local businesses. Over £1,000 was raised during the event, which will go towards the fantastic services that the charity provides.

Tom was joined by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Joyce Melican and the Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Simon Wales, along with a number of other members of the council.

Tom said: “Sutton Shopmobility has done fantastic work over the last 25 years for the borough. The mobility equipment hire gives people the independence to get out and enjoy themselves.

I’d like to thank all the volunteers and Amanda Beck [the manager of Sutton Shopmobility] for the great service they offer to the local area.”
