Tom Urges Local Businesses to Cough Up for Christmas Lights

Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, joined Wallington Councillors Joyce Melican and Steve Cook in visiting local estate agents, banks and shops on Wallington High Street to seek sponsorship for the Christmas lights.

Following the success of last year’s Christmas lights switch-on ceremony event, which saw an appearance from Santa Claus himself top off an evening of arts and crafts, music and stalls, a similar event is being planned for this year. Tom, Steve and Joyce visited local business to ask for financial support to ensure the famous lavender lights will be there in future years to liven up Wallington’s high street.

Tom said:

“Having had a fantastic time at last year’s light switch-on in Wallington with my Christmas card competition winner Wiktor, I am keen to see future events illuminated with our traditional lavender lights. I urge local businesses to come forward, get in the festive spirit and open their wallets!”

This year’s event takes place on Friday 25th November from 5 to 8pm, with the light switch-on at 7pm.
