Wallington lit up by Christmas card competition winner

Tom Brake MP and hundreds of local residents kicked off the holiday season with the Wallington Christmas lights switch-on on Friday.

The celebration, sponsored by Carpenter & Co Solicitors, had Christmas activities for all ages including a lantern parade, Christmas carols, craft stalls, and free mulled wine and mince pies.

George Wallace-Ottmann was this year’s overall winner of Tom Brake’s 20th annual Christmas card competition and had the privilege of formally switching-on the lights to the cheers of spectators.

Tom Brake MP said:

“The Wallington Christmas lights ceremony marks a special time each year for residents to celebrate the joys of the Christmas season together.

"The event was a huge success and keeps getting bigger and better.

“I want to congratulate the organisers who made the event possible as well as George and the nearly 300 students who participated in my annual Christmas card competition."

The Christmas card with George’s design will be sent out to over a thousand local people.
