There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea - Henry James
On Friday, Tom Brake and his team hosted an afternoon tea event to raise money for Sutton Mental Health Foundation. All the proceeds raised will go directly to providing invaluable support to local people affected by mental distress and to promoting well-being through recreational and leisure activities.
Tom Brake MP for Carshalton and Wallington said:
“It was chastening to see so many local residents come for a cuppa and show their support for Sutton Mental Health Foundation. I am extremely grateful to everyone who attended the event. We raised a fantastic £245 which will undoubtedly help the charity to continue providing adequate and vital care for those in need.
“I would also like to extend my gratitude to local shops - Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s for their kind donations of sandwiches, cakes and scones, as without them it would not have been possible to host the fundraiser and raise as much for Sutton Mental Health Foundation.”
Sutton Mental Health Foundation has evolved from providing a traditional “drop-in” service to offering a more extensive range of services for people who have experienced mental distress. The charity has been helping people in the community for over 30 years.
