Earlier this week, Tom Brake MP attended the Deaf Family Fun Day organised by the Dreaming Tree Project, a local charity supporting Sutton’s deaf community. Tom participated in activities and chatted with local families and children who are hard of hearing.
Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake said:
"It was great to be able to participate in such a fantastic event! I am grateful to the Dreaming Tree Project for organising it and creating dedicated and specialised activities for the deaf community, whether it be children, young adults, or senior citizens.
"I witnessed children hard of hearing lead confidently in games and activities. I know that they take the same tenacity into their schools and communities, making a positive impact on their peers and adults alike."
The Dreaming Tree Project was established in 2017 to deliver services to the deaf community in Sutton. The charity aims to raise awareness of how deafness affects everyday life, through education and training.
