Last week, Tom Brake greeted residents from Carshalton and Wallington near Westminster for ‘The Time is Now’ mass lobby for climate, nature, and people.
Tom listened to the concerns of his constituents on issues of single-use plastic, electric car battery life and charging, and what action is being taken to gurantee the UK is carbon neutral by 2050 at the latest.
Tom Brake MP for Carshalton and Wallington said:
"I was thrilled to see many of my constituents travel from Carshalton and Wallington to voice their opinions on the current climate emergency we face.
"My fellow Lib Dems and I want the UK to be carbon neutral by 2045, five years before current plans. To reach net neutrality by 2045, the Government must take immediate action by implementing bold policies that legally bind them to ensure all citizens have the right to clean air and water, green spaces, and a thriving wildlife population.
"For these rights to be recognised we must begin by pressuring the Government to eliminate waste and plastic pollution, slash emissions from transport, phase out fossil fuels, and expand renewable energy alternatives.
"I am committed to delivering a greener future for my constituents. The Time is Now for the Government to invest in our future and tackle this climate crisis head-on."
Over 20,000 people came to Westminster for ‘The Time Is Now’ mass lobby event. Each person called for their MP to take action on climate change and put forward legislation and accelerate the progress towards achieving global goals on climate change, nature protection and restoration, and sustainable development.
