Last Friday, Tom Brake MP joined the Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) on patrol in the St Helier and Rosehill area.
The group met at the David Weir Leisure Centre and walked to Rosehill, where they visited local businesses and encouraged them to attend a meeting organised by the police to reinvigorate the Rosehill Traders’ Association. St Helier Hospital was also included in their route.
Tom and the SNT also spoke to local business owners about anti-social behaviour, shoplifting and local issues such as moped crime.
Speaking after the patrol, Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton & Wallington said:
"My time spent on patrol with the St Helier Safer Neighbourhood Team was a great success. We discussed some of the pressing issues affecting the local community and the police and committed to working together to improve safety locally.
"I hope many businesses will come to the meeting to help re-establish the Traders’ Association because an effective, loud voice for local businesses can help tackle some of the problems they face.
"Many thanks to the SNT for having me, and for all the great work that they do to make our neighbourhoods safer for everyone."
