At the beginning of July, Tom celebrated Swim England’s 150th anniversary by promoting their new #LoveSwimming campaign.
The campaign encourages millions to enjoy water activities, and all the benefits that being active in water brings with it.
Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, said:
"I #LoveSwimming. It benefits my physical and mental health and I encourage all my constituents in Carshalton and Wallington, young and old, to head down to a local pool and take part in all the summer aquatic activities."
Tom can occasionally be found splashing up and down Westcroft Pool.
Spending time active in the water has been shown to bring families together, help escape the stresses of a busy lifestyle, and aid a range of medical conditions. According to Swim England statistics, 81% of people aged over 11 can swim, and more than 7 million go swimming every week – making it one of the most popular participation sports in the UK.
