Recently, Tom joined members of the local Ahmadiyya Muslim community and the Charity Walk for Peace organisation to present Sutton Mental Health Foundation (SMHF) with a cheque for £500, completing the MP’s fundraising drive. On the day, the Ahmaddiya community very generously doubled their contribution to £1,000.

Tom raises money for local charities chosen by his constituents. He will soon be asking residents to select the next local charity for him to support.

Carshalton & Wallington MP Tom Brake said:

"I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who contributed to my fundraising drive for Sutton Mental Health Foundation, especially the local Ahmadiyya Muslim community for donating a total of £1,000.

"It is always a pleasure to recognise local charities that have been working to better our community, and SMHF is no exception. For over 30 years, they have worked to support those struggling with their mental health. I hope that this £4,500 will have gone some way in helping them support local residents."

Sutton Mental Health Foundation was established in 1987 and has been serving the community ever since. It has evolved from providing a traditional “drop-in” service to offering a wider range of services for people who have experienced mental distress.
