Brake’s Makeover Makes the Papers

Carshalton and Wallington MP showed his appreciation and support for locally-owned businesses by visiting a barber shop in Wallington last Wednesday.

Recently opened Hadi’s Barbers on Beddington Gardens in Wallington has been providing top service to local residents. Tom paid a visit to see their work, get a haircut and learn more about the business.

Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake said:

"I was very satisfied with the cut, but politicians can be sharp-tongued critics. It met with mixed reviews from MPs later that day in Parliament.

"Labour MP Rosie Winterton asked if I was after a film star look, Tory MP Alex Chalk queried if I was preparing for a leadership bid and outspoken Labour MP Jess Phillips said something about it too rude to repeat.

"I am happy to confirm I was seeking none of the above. I was just popping in for a quick trim and to find out more about a local business. Carshalton & Wallington is fortunate to have a multitude of independent businesses that serve the community."

Much to Tom’s surprise, even the Evening Standard reported on his new look in ‘The Londoner’ column.
