Last week, Tom Brake MP attended the Carew Academy’s Careers’ Fair where he spoke to over fifty students about his experience of interviewing volunteers, interns and staff and the world of work.
Tom Brake MP for Carshalton and Wallington said:
“It was great meeting the students and being given the opportunity to speak about my experience as an employer and the attributes I look for when hiring someone, as well as the qualities prospective employers seek. The simple rules are that candidates should have a positive attitude, show enthusiasm, dress smart and arrive on time for work or for an interview.
“This event was a unique opportunity for the students to network with a wide range of local employers, get a head start on looking into their options, or finding work placements. I look forward to seeing how the students take what they have learnt at the Careers’ Fair and apply it in their future careers.”
Carew Academy is a school for students with a wide range of ability levels and additional learning needs, including complex needs. To better equip the pupils for their potential careers, Carew Academy hosted a Careers’ Fair to give the students the opportunity to learn about businesses in the local area, as well as the dos and don’ts in the workplace.
