Brake venture into the Bear pit!

Tom Brake was the key note speaker for around one hundred Sixth Formers at Wilson's School, Mollison Drive, Wallington on Monday 15th March 2004.

In a brief presentation, Mr Brake outlined the competing demands on an MP's time; constituency, parliament, party and portfolio.

In a lively Q&A session after his speech, Mr Brake had to field questions on issues as diverse as Lib Dem policy on top-up fees, plans to re-locate the Treasury away from London and what qualifications are needed to become an MP.

Mr Brake said, "The schools locally always provide a vigorous challenge. Wilson's was no exception. The students did not pull their punches in their line of questioning. I felt like the Prime Minister at Prime Minister's Question Time."
