Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake is marking the start of the annual Fairtrade fortnight with the announcement that his constituency office has taken a purchasing decision in favour of fairly traded goods.

Mr Brake said,

"Choosing Fairtrade products when you're shopping is an easy way to make a difference to farmers in developing countries."

"I saw first hand in Ghana how Fairtrade practices enrich the lives of farmers. The Fairtrade mark ensures that farmers get a fair and stable price for their products and the quality of the goods mean that consumers win out.

"I urge all my constituents to check out Fairtrade products."

Tom Brake visited the Rosehill Co-op on Tuesday 1 March to speak on the momentum behind Fairtrade.
