Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, urges war veterans to apply for a Veterans Lapel Badge. Veterans who served in HM Armed Forces in the Second World War are entitled to a Veterans' Badge. UK Merchant Seafarers who served on a vessel when it was operated to facilitate military operations at any time prior to 31st December 1969 are also entitled to a lapel badge.

Mr Brake whose grandfathers saw active service in WW2 has voiced his regard for the "great sacrifice which war veterans made to guarantee the freedom and safety our nation. The civil liberties which we cherish today would have been lost without their patriotic endeavours."

Other individuals who served during World War II such as the Cyprus Regiment, the Home Guard, and the Polish Forces under UK Command are also included. People who served in HM Armed Forces between 3 September 1945 and 31 December 1969 are also included.

Mr Brake urges all potential candidates to submit an application. An application form can be downloaded from the Veterans Agency website at All completed application forms can be submitted either electronically or by post. Forms can also be obtained from Tom Brake, Kennedy House, 5 Nightingale Road, Carshalton SM5 2DN
