Tom Brake MP Criticises Government Plans to Cut Funding for the Freedom Pass

Tom Brake MP, the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for London, has criticised the Department of Transport's new consultation on the national bus concession in England, which proposes to remove almost £29 million of funding for London's Freedom Pass.

Tom said, "This savage cut in funding for the Freedom Pass is going to hit Londoners really hard. Thanks to the Government, the Boroughs are now going to have to choose between slashing services or putting up the Council Tax. If they don't, the Freedom Pass will be at risk."

Today in the Commons during Prime Ministers Question Time, Tom challenged the Prime Minister over the cuts in funding to the Freedom Pass and the estimated cost of the Council Tax increase that will be needed to cover the shortfall.
