Vince Cable Star of the Show in Wallington

On Thursday 12th November, Tom Brake MP and Yawar Khan, the owner of the Akash Tandoori, hosted a dinner at Mr Khan's restaurant in Wallington.

Fellow Liberal Democrats Dr Vince Cable and Lord Chris Rennard were the star speakers on the night, and with additional entertainment provided by a group of bollywood dancers, the evening proved to be one to remember.

Guests at the packed restaurant were regaled with speeches from the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer and former party chief executive.

Dr Cable gained almost overnight fame for predicting the credit crunch and was one of the few economists who forewarned against the dangers of unsustainable debt and questionable lending practices.

Here the economic guru was full of praise for the Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake, describing him as hard-working and a real team-player.

He went on to explain that the Liberal Democrats were the only party who stood for principles such as honesty and fairness and had the vision to deliver on their promises.

Asked whether the evening had been a success, Tom replied that, 'It was an amazing evening. It was fantastic to have Vince come and speak to my constituents. His consistently accurate judgements are proof that we are the only party with any credibility on the economy.'
