Last Friday, Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake attended the opening of a new 10 bed unit at Ryelands Methodist Home in Wallington.

The new unit, which will accommodate elderly people with dementia, was officially opened by Health Minister and MP for Sutton and Cheam Paul Burstow.

Tom said: "Ryelands provides an outstanding service for their residents. I am certain that the new unit will also provide top quality care for dementia patients in a safe and very attractive environment."

Methodist Homes are an organisation that provide care homes and support for over 13,500 elderly people across the country. Ryelands in Wallington was the first such home, established in 1945, but today is just one of seventy homes nationwide which provide a mix of residential, nursing and specialist dementia care.
