The recent announcement by the Chancellor to halve bingo duty to 10% looks set to pump new life into local bingo halls.
The reduction in bingo duty will come into effect from 30 June 2014 and local bingo halls say it couldn’t come sooner.
Murad Ghazzaly, General Manager at Mecca bingo Rosehill said: “The recent announcement was brilliant news. Bingo is at the heart of this local community and everyone here is absolutely delighted!”
“The decision to reduce duty means that we will be able to look at ways to offer our customers even better value for money, bigger prizes and fun new games."
Carshalton and Wallington MP, Tom Brake visited Mecca bingo in Rosehill to see exactly how reduced duty will have an impact.
Tom said: “For a lot of local residents, bingo is about fun and meeting friends. I am proud we are helping people enjoy their leisure time.”
During his visit, Mr. Brake also called out the numbers for a charity game, raising £73.05 for Sutton Carers Centre.
