Last week, Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake joined cross-party MPs to question the Government on solar power and creating the conditions in which it can compete fairly with other energy generation technologies.
Tom, in questioning The Minister for Energy and Clean Growth Claire Perry, made clear that households exporting electricity to the grid should be paid a fair rate.
Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake said:
"Nobody should be exporting power to the grid for free.
"It is crucial that the Government sets an explicit minimum price for exported electricity to allow the market to recover some confidence that new solar homes will receive treatment consistent with that of other electricity generators.
"Under the Lib Dems in Coalition, we started a renewable energy revolution, this must not be snuffed out by the Tory Government."
