6720 Sutton pupils to get free school meals from September

As of this September, all children in reception, year 1 and 2 in state-funded schools will receive free school meals due to the implementation of Universal Free School Meals (UFSM). In Sutton, 6720 pupils will benefit. Sutton’s schools have all confirmed they are ready to provide UFSM.

Power cut knocks out over 1000 properties in Wallington

Tom Brake MP was one of thousands affected by a power cut in Wallington first thing this morning.

The power cut, first reported at around 8am was caused by a fault in an underground cable. UK Power Networks restored power to the first properties shortly before 9am.  Power is yet to be restored to all properties.

New figures show that just 45% of families agree to organ donation going ahead if they are unaware of their loved one’s decision to be a donor, but this figure rises to 95% when they know their loved one has chosen to donate their organs.
